Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by the Monarch at Royal Windsor Investiture

David Beckham received a honorary title at Windsor Castle on the weekday. The ex-national team leader, 50, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his contributions to sport and charity. In recent months, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the monarch's annual honors list.

Football Career Highlights

Beckham first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in 1995 and was part of the team that secured a dramatic European Cup win in the late nineties when they beat Bayern Munich with last-minute strikes.

In total, he netted 85 goals and collected honours including multiple English championships and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before ending his playing career in 2013. Alongside his football career, he has backed a number of charity causes, including acting as a charitable representative for humanitarian aid organisation the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Philanthropy and Beyond

Last year, the sports star, who has referred to himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was named an official representative for the royal educational charity, an non-profit organization established by the King in the early nineties. In 1998 he was declared top fashion icon by a leading publication and he has modelled for brands like H&M, the Italian designer, and Boss.

David tied the knot with Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the couple have four children together – their eldest, Romeo, the third child, and their daughter.
