Eyewitness Details Moment When 'Evil Attacker' Struck Manchester Synagogue
An individual assisting in securing a Jewish temple in the Manchester area has described how a deadly attack took place, causing the deaths of a pair of community members.
Early Thursday, Alan Levy was within the local synagogue when a perpetrator drove a vehicle toward and stabbed attendees assembling for a observance to observe a significant religious event.
He explained that the 'monster' individual tried to force open the entryways of the place of worship, and he recalled barricading the facility with fellow attendees.
Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 died in the violence on the morning, while additional persons were injured while helping to safeguard worshippers.
Survivor Testimony of the Attack
Mr Levy, who acts as a leader at the house of worship, explained securing the entry points and stated that the perpetrator wielded knives and garden containers to try to get in.
I observed this great, big, evil monster shoulder charge the main doors, attempting to break them open while armed with a blade," he told interviewers.
The single phrase I heard from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.
That was all were spoken. We stood behind the doors and we were declaring 'we are not letting this man in'.
"He was a deranged, evil monster."
Memorial Service Conducted for Victim
These comments came as hundreds of people attended the memorial for the deceased.
Close kin, members from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation along with a religious leader, and members of the wider Jewish community came together in the local area to show support.
Those present filled the gravesite, with a number standing outdoors the ceremony space in the inclement weather, hearing the proceedings over audio systems.
In a tribute released on the following day, the victim's loved ones expressed that he would "do anything to help anyone".
