Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found a variety of interesting independent titles. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a hero that is truly a piece of poop attempting to make its way to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is simple: you only need a one button to leap. In numerous challenges, encounter tough enemies and access a store to acquire skins for your poop character.

Time your jumps precisely, since one wrong move forces restarting the level. Bounce using floating orbs to propel the poop to new heights, navigate fragile surfaces, and activate triggers to unlock new areas. Collect currency for buying challenging levels where gameplay gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo shows off neon stages and a killer soundtrack. The simple visual style with moving basic polygons could recall gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though hard to name other games where you are a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently incorporated toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on computers this November.
